How the Magic Started
Hey there! In the process of celebrating our 4th year in private practice, we decided to write something a little more personal about how we got started.
How we met
Yesi and I met in Grad school at CSULB in 2009. We had classes together, but we hadn’t talked until I shared a really challenging situation in our small seminar class and showed my vulnerability (I cried like a baby!). Yesi came up to me after class and told me she admired my ability to show my emotions. From there, we become close friends, sharing many tears and laughs.
What we experienced together
We have shared so many things in our 10 years friendship, wrestling through our thesis, graduating from our Master’s program, backpacking through the Dominican Republic, (a beautiful walk through the jungle in the rain and 104 mosquito bites later we remained friends) and then to return to start our Social Work careers in South LA.
Our Spirituality and healing
Community mental health burn-out and family trauma drove us to find our own healing. We began to have more conversations on the bigger meaning of life and explored our Spirituality. We had astrology readings which started us down the path to learning all the healing modalities we use today. We continued to develop our intuition and healing gifts through workshops, training, circles, and even journeyed to past lives. Just imagine the crazy looks we would get from our family and friends as we learned and talked about chakras, energy, reincarnation, Angels, and the healing power of crystals. All of this learning which we hold so dear.
The Big Idea!
As the universe dropped babies in our hearts and homes, we started to dream of a new world that included healing our generational wounds and a work/life balance that was sustainable and meaningful. We wanted to combine all that we had learned in our education and experience in Mental health and alternative healing and offer it to clients. We became mamas to our babies and mamas to our business, but what would we call it?
Developing the Bigger Picture
Where do we start? We asked ourselves this over 4 years ago, and thanks to our separate and collective strengths, we found our way through the things that we connect on like nature, self-compassion, spirituality, client-centered therapy approaches, creativity, kindness, support, and of course intuition. To this day, nothing has pushed the expansion of our hearts and souls as much as being partners, mothers, and becoming entrepreneurs. It’s been one wild ride, and we are grateful for every twist and turn and message from the universe that we are on the right track! “Thank you and more please!” is a phrase we have adopted from one of our mentors, and we use it more than you would suspect in acknowledgment and gratitude of the bigger mission at play! We couldn’t have created this without and all the support from our families, friends, mentors, and clients. Oh, and don’t forget the spirit guides, ancestors, and Angels!
We have created Intuitive Healing Journey as a place for us to honor and develop our own path but also as a place to support our clients and other healers to nurture, expand and blossom into living their best lives.
