Group Work FAQ

I am a private person, why would I consider joining a group?
Groups are powerful tool for connecting with people going through similar struggles. By showing encouragement and supporting each other, we can learn and practice new skills to grow toward our best selves.

The facilitators goal is to create a warm and safe environment for all group members. By participating in a group and listening to other people’s experiences, you will learn about yourself and may develop lasting friendships.

If the cost of going to therapy is a financial burden, groups are a cost effective solution. Due to their cooperative nature, group therapy is offered at a lower price point than one-on-one sessions.

What if I’m too uncomfortable to discuss my problems?
When you meet people for the first time, it is hard to know what to say and how much to trust them. Trusting is a process that develops as everyone begin to share about themselves. Letting the group know that you are uncomfortable helps promotes a group discussion about trust and building it with each other.

Is what I say kept confidential?
All group members are expected to respect the confidentiality of the group. Group members are asked to make a commitment to protect each other’s confidentiality by agreeing not to share information that would violate the identity. We cannot guarantee absolute confidentiality (since we cannot control the behavior of group members), we find that members are usually very respectful of each other’s privacy.

How would I know what group is best for me?
All potential group members have an exploration session with the group facilitator to determine which group is the best fit for them. The groups are purposely kept small to create a warm, safe, and supportive environment. This allows everyone to work toward individual and collective healing and wholeness.

At Intuitive Healing Journey, every group is creatively crafted to encourage the healing of group work.
